Can’t find parking space? Smart parking system helps you find one.
Finding a parking place in a crowded city like Bengaluru is a horrendous task for city travelers. For this, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has come out with a solution that will not only solve the parking issues, but also help citizens to book parking spot well in advance.
The authorities will soon launch a smart parking system aided by an app that will put an end to parking woes. The app will allow finding a parking space by letting you know if there are any empty spots. The city’s first automated on-street pay-parking facility will be implemented in 85 places in the central business district.
Through the electronic sensors being installed in every parking spot, the time of entry and exit of a vehicle can be monitored, while CCTV cameras record any illegal entry. There will also be an automatic ticket vending machine at each parking spot.
The smart parking system will cover around 9,000 vehicles – 3,000 cars and 6,000 bikes – with three different parking packages for each. Roads will be divided according to these packages, namely A, B and C. The hourly parking fees will be different for both bikes and cars in each package.
